About: Daniel Mayes

Daniel L. Mayes is a senior vice president at Cetera Financial Group® in charge of the firm’s Succession Planning and Business Acquisition department. He is responsible for managing, developing and leveraging firm resources to help advisors protect and grow the value of their businesses and accomplish their mergers and acquisition objectives. Dan works collaboratively with the firm’s Business Consulting, Practice Management and Relationship Management teams to ensure advisors achieve their goals through a consultative and comprehensive process.

Dan’s previous roles include managing the First Allied Securities, Inc. succession planning platform and end-to-end sales programs, including the Greenbook for Doctors program; strategic business consultant for the Business Strategies Group; and regional financial specialist for the Greenbook program. Prior to joining First Allied, Dan owned and operated an independent wealth management firm specializing in serving high-net-worth physician and dentist clients through a comprehensive wealth management approach. He became a charter advisor with Greenbook Financial Services, which eventually merged with First Allied in 2006.

Dan earned his B.A. in business administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. He holds a Certified Wealth Strategist® (CWS®) industry designation administered by Cannon Financial Institute, the Certified Exit Planner (CExP™) designation from the Business Enterprise Institute, and the Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®) from fi360® Global Fiduciary Insights.
